*Do not use anything that covers
an area (furniture without legs, area rugs, protective coverings)
until a full cure is achieved. If you're having work done, have
drop cloths taken up at the end of each work day for the first week. The
finish needs exposure to air to properly cure. |
Furniture
Furniture with legs can be moved in 48 hours after the final coat. We urge customers to use felt pads on all furniture, especially anything that moves around often such as a chair or a coffee table.
Dry mopping
Tracking in and walking on dust is very abrasive to any type of flooring, so we recommend the use of walk off mats at all entrances to the floor combined with frequent dust mopping or dry "swiffering" to minimize scratches and general wear.
Damp mopping
After a full cure is achieved, use cleaners specifically formulated for polyurethane finished hardwood floors. A waxy residue or an abrasive cleaner can potentially inhibit the bond of future maintenance coats. Avoid excessive amounts of liquid.
Maintenance schedule
No finish on the market will last forever, floors just take too much abuse. Every 5 to 10 years we simply apply another coat to the floor, depending on wear and the type of finish and cleaning products used. As long as the finish hasn't worn through to the wood and the mandatory test spots show a good bond, this can potentially eliminate the need to sand a wood floor ever again.
